Drugs seized in village raid
Police arrested two men in the raids
Drugs worth £4,000 have been seized in police raids on a Leicestershire village.
Officers say they were acting on tip-offs from the public. The raids, on three separate addresses in Castle Donington, were carried out on Thursday night by officers from Shepshed police station. They recovered a large quantity of cannabis and arrested two people. Lengthy enquiries Both suspects, local men in their 40s, are still being questioned. These latest raids follow similar seizures in Shepshed last month and in Castle Donington in December last year. The police say although the incidents are not connected, they demonstrate that police in the area are making progress in the fight against drugs. Inspector Tony Marson, who led the operation, said: "It's linked with crime so hopefully we will see a reduction in the number of crimes that people commit to get drugs." Police are urging people in the area to continue to come forward with information.
