College's Olympic deal is tasty treat
Food on plate
Grimsby food experts will advise Olympic caterers
Greece's Olympic Games caterers and function organisers are to be given food for thought by Grimsby's new Institute of Fisheries and Food.

The east coast college has won the contract to train Greek caterers and hospitality organisers in the art of safely catering for thousands of visitors to the Athens Olympics in 2004.

The deal is part of the British government's initiative to provide support for the Greek Food Safety department in the run up to the showcase event.

Teams from the college will be making regular trips to Athens to carry out training sessions to familiarise the caterers in the daunting task of feeding thousands of extra visitors.

At the same time a company set up by the Grimsby Institute director Mike Dillon will build a computer software system on food inspection management.

The contract has been won partly because of the college's reputation for catering training.
