Prison chief arrested in porn inquiry
Bullingdon Prison, Oxfordshire
The prison officer is suspended from Bullingdon Prison
A deputy prison governor has been arrested as part of an investigation into child pornography on the Internet.

Terence McLaren, 47, who is a deputy at Bullingdon Prison, near Bicester, in Oxfordshire, has since been released on bail.

It is understood the the arrest was part of Operation Ore - the operation to trace alleged users of paedophile material on the Internet.

A spokesman for the prison said: "An individual from Bullingdon has been suspended."

Pay-per-view site

He confirmed the man was suspended from the prison, a category B jail for men, about six weeks ago.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "On 8 January officers from the Met Child Protection Command arrested a 47-year-old man at an address near Banbury in Oxfordshire in connection with alleged possession of indecent images of children."

Operation Ore was launched after the United States Postal Inspection Service - a federal agency in America - passed on what are thought to be credit card details linked to a pay-per-view site displaying pornography.

Mr McLaren will be questioned further at a police station in Oxfordshire at a later date.
