Mayor watchdog arrested in porn inquiry
GLA building
The arrested man worked for the GLA
A senior official who helps scrutinise the work of London's Mayor has been arrested as part of the Operation Ore child pornography inquiry.

Yusef Azad, 39, was arrested last month at his home in Brixton, south London, and his computer equipment seized by child protection officers.

He was later released on bail to return to the police station in February.

Mr Azad was unavailable for comment.

Transatlantic investigation

The arrest was understood to have been part of Operation Ore, Scotland Yard's transatlantic investigation into paedophile material on the internet.

Who star Pete Townshend was also arrested and bailed in connection with the inquiry.

Mr Azad was arrested on suspicion of possessing and making indecent images of children and incitement to distribute the images.

A spokesman for the Greater London Authority (GLA) said: "This is now a police matter.

"The GLA can only confirm that a member of staff has been arrested and released on police bail."

The allegations do not relate to any activities at City Hall or abuse of GLA facilities.
