Man arrested after cyclist dies
Killingbeck Police Station
Kilingbeck Police are hunting the driver of the Ford Focus
A man has been arrested after a cyclist died and another was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Leeds.

The two men were cycling along Pontefract Lane, near the Cross Green Industrial Estate, in east Leeds at 1850GMT on Monday.

The car, which police say was travelling from the Newsam Green end of Pontefract Lane towards East End Park, collided with the men close to the junction with New Market Lane.

One of the riders, 55-year-old John Elwood from the Killingbeck area, died as a result of the collision while the other, a 47-year-old sustained serious injuries.

The car, a Ford Focus, was later found in O-Grady Square, in the Richmond Hill area of the city.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact Killingbeck Police Station.
