Musical tribute to Bali bomb victim
Sunday would have been Marc Gajardo's 31st birthday
A record aimed at raising money for people affected by the Bali bomb has been recorded in tribute to a Cornish victim.
The CD Blue Bail was released to coincide with what would have been the 31st birthday of Marc Gajardo. Surf enthusiast Mr Gajardo was among nearly 200 people killed by two terrorist bombs which devastated the Sari nightclub last November. His 22-year-old girl friend Hanabeth Luke, with whom he had been living in Australia, survived the blast. The CD includes songs from bands which played at the Blue Bar in Porthtowan, north Cornwall, where Mr Gajardo worked to finance his move to Australia. Mr Gajardo's father Ray, 64, from Carnon Downs, near Truro, said the album was a "lovely memorial" to his son. He, his wife Carole and elder son Steve plan to travel to Bali next month. In the weeks after the bombing Marc was remembered by friends at a beachside gathering at Porthtowan, and later by a surfing competition there organised by Hanabeth.
