Man hurt in quarry fall
Buxton
The quarry is near the Peak District town of Buxton
A 48-year-old man had a "lucky escape" after falling 60-feet down a Derbyshire quarry face.

The man, from Barnsley in South Yorkshire, suffered a severe gash to his head and was in a critical condition when he was taken to hospital.

He is now recovering in hospital in Preston and is said to be in a stable condition.

The accident happened at Tunstead Quarry near Buxton at about 2015 GMT Saturday night.

The man, who is from Barnsley, fell into machinery.

The Peak District Mountain Rescue were called in to help paramedics rescue him.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire fire and rescue said: "He was lucky to be alive".
