Family appeal to missing Rachel
Detective Superintendent Paul Davison
Police have made a fresh appeal for witnesses
The family of a 21-year-old who vanished on New Year's Day have appealed for her to contact them.

Rachel Moran was last seen after spending the previous night in a pub with her brother.

She returned to her parents' house in the city before setting off for her home in Sax Court, Hull.

At a news conference, her brother John pleaded for anyone with information to come forward.

We are all now very fearful for her safety.

Sitting with Ms Moran's parents, Wanda and Ray, he said: "At the moment, as a family, we are just about holding together.

"Rachel was in good spirits at the time of her disappearance and we are unaware of her having any problems.

"We are all now very fearful for her safety."

Mr Moran added: "Rachel, if you are watching this, we beg you to get in touch by whatever means you can, if only to let us know that you are safe and well."

Ms Moran was unemployed and had lived with her boyfriend for about two years.

She was born in the Republic of Ireland and had her Irish passport with her when she disappeared.

But police say this was not unusual as Rachel was often challenged about her age in pubs.

In 1999 she was named as the Face of Hull in a beauty competition run by the Hull Daily Mail.

Two men

Detective Superintendent Paul Davison said officers are particularly keen to trace a man heard saying "Do you know Rachel Moran?" to people on End Dyke Lane about four hours before she went missing.

Mr Davison said another witness may have seen Rachel talking to two young men close to her home in the early hours of New Year's Day.

"We believe the conversation was quite amicable," he said.

"But we do need these men to come forward."
