'Speeding' minister stopped by police
Ms Harman intends to plead guilty to speeding
The solicitor general, Harriet Harman, has been stopped by police for
allegedly speeding on the M4 motorway.
The Attorney General's office said the minister was recorded travelling at 99mph in a 70mph zone in Wiltshire.
"Harriet Harman is very sorry that she exceeded the speed limit. "She fully recognises that she should have paid more attention to the speed at which she was travelling." At the time the MP was stopped her son was travelling in the car with her, the spokeswoman added. She was taking him back to a university in Bristol after the Christmas recess. A Downing Street spokesman said: "Harriet Harman said she is sorry and made clear she intends to plead guilty."
