Best paws forward for dancing dogs
Dancing dog and partner
Dog dancing is the new sport in the canine world
A Warwickshire village is playing host to one of the largest dog dancing competitions in the country.

More than 100 dancing canines have been strutting their stuff in Ryton on Dunsmore since 0830 GMT on Monday morning.

The dogs will be competing in dances as diverse as a reel, jig, waltz or jive with their owners.

The competition has been organised by Canine Freestyle GB, a recently formed group of top trainers who aim to promote the new sport of dog dancing.

Linda Topliss, spokesperson for the group, said: "The amazing sport of Canine Freestyle and heelwork to music is growing rapidly.

"The captivating harmony between dog and handler is absolutely breathtaking. It is very personal to the dog and handler partnership."

"Owners choose music to suit both them and their dog and there are no set moves - they create a mood and routine which is unique to them."
