School closed after gym fire
Firefighters tackling the blaze at Chase Town High School
The fire is the second at a school in the area this year
A school near Cannock is closed on Monday after a fire destroyed its gym block over the weekend.

The building at Chasetown High School in Burntwood will have to rebuilt following Saturday night's blaze.

The school is the second in the area to be hit by fire this year.

In August, more than 30 thirty classrooms at the Chase Terrace High School in Cannock were destroyed in an arson attack.

Burglar alarm

Robert Newton, the head teacher of Chasetown High School, says they do not know how the latest fire started.

"We're waiting for the fire inspectors who are on site today.. to see what they come up with", he said.

"We do know that there was a burglar alarm set off, so someone was on site and possibly in the building."
