Tube death blamed on 'train surfing'
The accident happened at Chalk Farm station
A man killed in an accident at an underground station was reportedly seen trying to hang on to the side of a train.
Transport police investigating the death at a north London Tube station on 2 December have described it as "non-suspicious". It is believed the dead man, who was in his mid-20s, may have been "train surfing" at Chalk Farm station on the Northern Line. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a man trying to hang on to the train as it left the station and it has been suggested he was waving at friends on the train. He was killed when he struck the tunnel wall at the end of the platform. A London Underground spokeswoman said: "We think he may have been trying to jump on to the side of the train. It's not quite clear what happened." The accident is being investigated by London Underground and British Transport Police.
