Drugs campaign goes on the buses
The scheme is a link-up between police and council
The latest stage in Bradford police's "Dob in a Dealer" campaign will see adverts on the sides of buses urging people to expose drug dealers.
The campaign is part of Crackdown in Bradford - A Community Against Drugs which has seen 286 reports of drug dealing in the Bradford area, and 31 calls from the Calderdale area. More than 150 arrests have been made, including 78 on suspicion of dealing in Class A drugs. "Dob in a Dealer" was launched in August when Bradford District Drugs Team teamed up with the Crimestoppers charity. Partnership working Chief Superintendent Graham Sunderland said: "The initiative is going extremely well and is clearly disrupting local drug markets. "From the start, we always said we could not tackle the drugs problem alone and we have continued to work closely with the local authority and the Safer Communities Bradford partnership." Detective Sergeant Ian Froggett, Crimestoppers regional co-ordinator, said: "Drug dealers previously unknown to officers are coming under the police and public microscope, with a number of first timers being arrested." Anyone with information can telephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Calls are not traced or taped and you do not have to give your name.
