The family of a teacher from Hertfordshire killed in the Bali bomb blast has welcomed news that Indonesian police have arrested the alleged mastermind behind the terrorist outrage.

Intelligence forces in Indonesia reported they had arrested Imam Samudra, the man suspected of helping build the bombs.

The attack killed up to 200 people, including around 30 Britons, on the holiday island last month.

Tobias Ellwood, whose brother Jon, from Hertfordshire, died in the nightclub attack, said he was pleased with the news.

'Continuing investigations'

"I am sure all the families whose loved ones died will be pleased to hear how the Indonesian police are continuing their investigations and if it does lead to a conviction then that is excellent news," he said.

"However, the question we are now faced with is are you going to stop other teachers, tourists and travellers being killed in these places?

"I think the answer is no and these incidents will continue and, like Jonathan's life, others will be added to the casualties."

'An attrocity'

Jon Ellwood, of Aldbury, Hertfordshire, was among many Britons in the Sari nightclub on 12 October when two bombs tore through the tourist hotspot.

Another victim was Neil Bowler, 27, who died along with colleagues from the Singapore Cricket Club's rugby team.

His brother Andy said: "Considering the Indonesian government is not really set up for such an atrocity it is encouraging how they have been pushing really hard to investigate this."
