Milly's parents collect for charity
Amanda Dowler and her mother Sally
Mrs Dowler hopes the charity will help young teenagers
The parents of Amanda Dowler are holding a collection for the charity set up in memory of the murdered schoolgirl.

Bob and Sally Dowler are joining a group of friends at Waterloo station in central London to raise money.

Milly's Fund aims to help youngsters by providing training and education in personal safety.

The charity was launched at a memorial service for the teenager last month.

People have been really wonderful and so far we have raised just under 40,000

Sally Dowler

The 13-year-old schoolgirl, known to family and friends as Milly, was abducted on her way home in March, in the Surrey town Walton-on-Thames.

Her remains were found two months ago in woodland near Fleet in Hampshire - 25 miles away from her home.

The charity will work closely with the Suzy Lamplugh Trust and hopes to concentrate on providing training in risk assessment to teenagers, their teachers and youth workers.

Mrs Dowler said the charity was set up to help young people without making them frightened to develop their own independence.

It is to produce a DVD and video to emphasise the importance of personal safety awareness.

Mrs Dowler said: "We would like to be able to supply every secondary school in the UK with a copy.

"People have been really wonderful and so far we have raised just under 40,000."

Fundraisers will be collecting at the central London station between 1600 and 1900 GMT on Thursday.
