City honours sporting hero

Trevor Foster has devoted his life to sport and Bradford

The city of Bradford is honouring a sporting hero with a new street bearing his name Friday, 15 November .

The Trevor Foster Way is a new road off Mayo Avenue, close to the M606 motorway.

The honour is in recognition of the former rugby league player's contribution to the game with 433 performances for Bradford Northern and three Great Britain caps.

The move also marks the contribution he has made to a number of charitable causes in the city.

Awarded MBE

The education welfare officer remains involved with the current Bradford Bulls rugby club, and, in 1999 was the first person to be awarded the Lord Mayor of Bradford's Lifetime Achievement Award.

In the New Year's Honours of 2001 Trevor was awarded the MBE, and in September was awarded a doctorate from the University of Bradford in recognition of his contribution to the city.
