Man jailed for raping five-year-old
BBC court graphic
A man who raped and indecently assaulted a five-year-old boy has been jailed for 10 years.

Darren Hilton, 26, of Tarnbrook Drive, Blackpool, abused the child on three different days in 1999 when he was living in Huyton, Merseyside.

The three-day trial at Liverpool Crown Court heard that the attacks came to light in April this year.

The boy's mother alerted social services after she noticed a change in her son's behaviour.

Alleyway attacks

Raymond, Herman, prosecuting, said that the attacks happened in an alleyway near the child's home.

Hilton told the child he would be sent to a "naughty boys' home" if he told anyone about the abuse.

Hilton denied the offences, and was convicted of one rape and four indecent assault offences.

Mr Justice Hilton said that the abuse, was "quite clearly still etched" in the boy's memory.

He added: "This is a very serious case."

Hilton was also placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.
