'Worst crime' at service station
Trowell services
The service area suffers from "professional thieves"
A service station on the M1 has been named by police as the number one crime hotspot in Nottinghamshire.

The police say gangs of professional thieves visit Trowell Services because business people use it.

The majority of crimes at the Moto service station are thefts of items such as mobile phones or laptops from cars.

However, managers of the site say the problem is no greater than anywhere else.

Up to 100,000 drivers pull into the services between junctions 25 and 26 on the motorway.

But Nottinghamshire Police say it is the worst place in the county for car crime.

A police spokesman said Moto, which runs the services, has ignored advice aimed at cutting crime there.

Moto said in a statement: "Trowell does suffer from a degree of crime, but we maintain the level is no greater nor any less than any similar location."
