Searching for the serial rapist
Police cordon around rape scene
Police hunting a serial rapist in the south east of England confirm the man has now attacked 10 women. BBC News Interactive provides coverage of the investigation which police say has become the biggest manhunt since the Yorkshire Ripper.

Police officers hunting a serial rapist who has struck at least 10 times in London and the south east have had a "good response" to a public appeal for information.

It is confirmed a 14-year-old girl from Hertfordshire is the 10th victim of a serial rapist. The teenager was assaulted on a footpath near a secondary school in Stevenage.

The father of a 10-year-old rape victim and a 52-year-old victim make television appeals for help in catching the serial sex attacker. The father of the schoolgirl says his daughter still fears that her attacker is watching her.

Surrey's police chief sends an e-mail to thousands of schoolchildren warning them how to protect themselves against the rapist. The police urge all residents to be vigilant and not to walk alone near wooded areas.

Police search for clues
Officers from Kent and Surrey police confirm the rape of a 13-year-old girl in Woking is the fifth attack by the serial rapist since November 2001. Police say the man takes an item of clothing from his victims.
