Workers face redundancy
About 250 workers at Rolls-Royce in Derby have been sent letters saying they are at risk of being made redundant.

Talks between unions and managers took place on Friday about the impact of the job losses.

The Amicus MSF union says many workers want to take voluntary redundancy.

Suspected thieves found in bin

Two suspected car thieves have been arrested in Derby after police found one hiding in a wheelie bin and the other beneath a patio table.

The teenagers from Allenton were detected by thermal imaging equipment on the police helicopter.

They had been followed after a Vauxhall Astra crashed into a concrete bollard shortly after midnight on Friday.

Council tax rise defended

Derbyshire County Council has defended its decision to increase its council tax by almost 8%.

The authority has been criticised by the Tory opposition leader who says that the increase is too high.

The council says the rise is needed for extra money on education, young people, fighting crime and economic regeneration.

It means a band D property's annual bill will rise by 67.
