Cancer patient's treatment blow
Pat Bradley
Pat Bradley may travel to the US for treatment
A man who raised £35,000 for cancer treatment has been told he can no longer have the procedure.

Pat Bradley, 45, from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, raised the money through donations from friends and well-wishers.

However, doctors have told him is now too unwell for the pioneering stem cell treatment at a private hospital in Birmingham.

The procedure would have involved replacing some of Mr Bradley cells with tissue from his brother.

We have not given up, we will never give up

Mr Bradley will now seek alternative treatments, either in London or the United States.

"There are so many people that have helped me through this... I feel I have let them down at this stage," he said.

Mr Bradley's cancer started in his kidneys but has now moved to his lungs.

"I don't look as far ahead now.

"I don't plan holidays for next year... I am focused on today."

His wife, Delia, said: "We have not given up, we will never give up.

"There are other treatments available.

"We are trying those although we might have to visit London every week and we haven't ruled out going to America."

Mr Bradley will visit London next week, possibly trying anti-cancer treatment with the drug thalidomide.
