Science equipment
The school laboratory has been sealed off
Two people have been injured in a chemistry experiment at a school open evening.

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the small explosion at Broughton Hall High School in West Derby, Liverpool, on Thursday evening.

The laboratory has been sealed off after the incident.

A woman suffered burns to her hand and a 10-year-old girl was injured when a light shattered.

The woman is thought to be a lab technician at the school, which is a specialist technology college.

A member of staff was also treated for shock.

Officials are due to visit the laboratory on Friday.
