Girl critical after fairground fall
Police at Hull fairground
The ride has been closed by police
A teenager is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering severe head injuries in a fall from a fairground ride called The Bomber.

The incident happened at Hull Fair at 1900 BST on Tuesday.

Humberside Police confirmed that 17-year-old Terri Lambert fell from the ride, after initial confusion about the cause of her injuries.

A police force spokesman said: "Information received... by Humberside Police suggested that Terri Lambert, who was injured at Hull Fair last night, did actually fall from The Bomber ride.

Four rescued

"Earlier reports were confusing which is why we weren't too specific earlier on, however speaking to witnesses it seems they are reporting she was in fact on the fairground ride at the time."

On Wednesday police met safety officials at the scene to discuss the circumstances of the incident.

The inquiry has now been handed over to the Health and Safety Executive which is conducting an investigation.

Four other people had to be rescued from the top of the ride by the fire brigade and needed treatment at Hull Royal Infirmary for hypothermia.

The fair is an annual event which opened last Thursday and was scheduled to end on Saturday.

The ride involved in the incident has been closed down by police.
