Viking wins sword battle
Broadsword champion
Andy Von Kiesel is the British broadsword champion
A Viking re-enactor from Cambridgeshire has beaten off thousands of competitors to be crowned champion swordfighter.

Andy Von Kiesel, from Eaton Socon, is now the British broadsword champion.

The leader of the Dalriada Viking Group has been weilding his sword for 25 years.

He is delighted at his victory in Wales.

Broadsword champion
"Best feeling in the world"

"Upward of 2,000 actually enter the tournaments.

"I've been fight for 25 years and to win the UK championship is just the best feeling in the world - it's great," he said.

The win is a huge success for the group, which meets most weekends to bring a colourful piece of history to venues and schools across the country.

Mr Von Kiesel's enthusiasm has even rubbed off on his nine-year old son Cameron.

He is now learning to be a Viking too - with a champion teacher.
