Jobs go with laboratory closure

Dow Chemicals is closing its laboratory and mini-plant
Part of the Dow Chemicals operation is Norfolk is to close with the loss of 21 jobs.

The company is closing its laboratories and mini-plant in King's Lynn.

The work is being transferred to the company's headquarters in Indianapolis in the USA.

The five business units at Dow in King's Lynn employ a total of 160 people.

The closure covers the pest management and biotechnology parts of the company known as Dow Agro Sciences.

The laboratories provide research and development work for the insecticides and pesticides part of the business.

Management say the closure is necessary because of restructuring.

The rest of the Dow Chemical Company in King's Lynn is not affected by the closure.
