No charges over judge's death
Police tape
Jennifer Chubb was arrested in May
The widow of a judge who died in an explosion will not be prosecuted over his death, police confirmed.

Andrew Chubb, 58, died in July 2001 after an explosion in the garage of his home in the hamlet of Leigh near Chard in Somerset.

His wife of 33 years, Jennifer, was arrested and questioned in May this year in connection with his death.

Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed no charges will be brought against Mrs Chubb after advice from the Crown Prosecution Service.

In December last year, an inquest into Judge Chubb's death heard that on the day he died he had asked his wife for a divorce.

He had been having an affair with Kerry Sparrow, a legal representative for a firm of solicitors whom he had met at Exeter Crown Court.

The coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
