Teenager arrested over child porn

Police officers also seized a number of computers

A 16-year-old boy is one of five people who have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into child pornography downloaded and distributed from the Internet.

Metropolitan Police officers seized a number of computers and made the arrests in London and the Home Counties at about 0700 BST on Tuesday under the Protection of Children Act 1978.

A 29-year-old man from Southgate, a 17-year-old from Croydon, and a man aged 51 from South Norwood have been interviewed and bailed to return to a central London police station.

Police also arrested a 24-year-old man from Camberley, Surrey, who is currently being interviewed, and a 16-year-old from Tonbridge, Kent, who has been interviewed and bailed.

Inspector Brian Ward said: "This type of crime involves one of the most vulnerable groups in society and we will take every step we can to protect them.

"Officers in the Obscene Publications and Internet Unit will continue in their work in order to cause maximum disruption to those committing this type of crime.

"Offenders can no longer hide behind the anonymity of Internet technology - we can and will trace and identify you."
