Toilets testing tourist tempers
Nottingham castle
Nottingham castle's public toilets have caused a stink
Visitors to Nottingham Castle who have criticised the state of the toilets are about to get some much needed relief.

The facilities have been been described by users as "leaving a lot to be desired."

Visitors to open air performances of Romeo and Juliet have complained about graffitii, damp floors and inadequate hand dryers.

Castle authorities have said they are about to start a clean up but have been waiting for the end of the school holidays.

Renovation to begin

Nottingham Castle is currently hosting the 6th Open Air Shakespeare Festival which each evening attracts up to 500 people.

But those audiences, and some of the hundreds of tourists, are finding the toilets do not quite come up to scratch.

Now, a spokesman for the Castle says they are starting the clean-up, with plumbers looking at the sinks and drainage, a paint job planned for the end of the week, damp proofing and replacement fittings.
