Kart firm charged over safety breach
Two people suffered broken ankles at the track
A Gloucester go-karting company will stand trial on health and safety charges after two customers were injured in separate accidents.
JDR Karting, of the Meadleaze Industrial Estate in the town, denied three charges of failing to comply with the Health and Safety Act at a hearing at Gloucester Magistrates' Court on Monday. Gareth Price, prosecuting, said the case followed two accidents within a fortnight of each other in October last year, when go-karts crashed on the same length of track and the drivers suffered fractured ankles. It was also alleged the firm failed to take proper measures to provide a suitable safety barrier. Anthony Gittings, a director of the company, denied al thel charges on the firm's behalf. After hearing from the defence that an expert in the design of karting tracks was being sought, the magistrates adjourned the case until January next year.
