Holly and Jessica - tribute poems
Jessica Chapman (left) and Holly Wells
Jessica and Holly were best friends
Here are the poems read at Friday's service to remember Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.

Two thousand people including many of the ten-year-olds' family and friends have attended a special tribute service at Ely Cathedral.

It honoured the lives of the girls from Soham in Cambridgeshire who were found murdered on 17 August, two weeks after they went missing from their homes.

Soham's Rose
Written and read by Kevin Wells, Holly's father

Your right to grow, to mature and play
So cruelly denied, in a sinister way.
Attentive and caring, a parent's delight
But so young at heart, needing comfort at night.

Kevin Wells, Holly's father
Kevin Wells's poem described Holly as 'a father's delight'

The garden so quiet, the house is too
But pausing for a moment, we can still sense you.
Your trusting nature and desire to please all
Allow us your family to remain walking tall.

Our memories, now shared, with the nation's hearts
Small crumbs of comfort, now it is, time to part.
We will never forget you, heaven's gain, as it knows
Is simply you Holly, our beautiful Soham rose.

Lord of Comfort
Written by Kathleen Golding, a friend of the Chapman family, and read by a police family liaison officer

Lord comfort the broken hearted
And give them strength from within
Help them to understand Lord
Each day and where to begin.

Holly Wells (left) and Jessica Chapman
Mourners celebrated the best friends' lives
With so many questions unanswered
The family are feeling such pain
From their loss of their precious daughter
And their longing to see her again.

Lord thank you for the special years
That little Jessica spent at home
With her mum and dad and family
And the joy that she brought to their home.

In the tough times, Lord, that lie ahead
Please carry them as they go
On your arms of loving kindness
And let your tender mercies flow.
