Bullying victim jailed for killing
Old Bailey
Harrowell told the court he had been bullied for years
A 17-year-old boy who killed a teenager after claiming he had been bullying him, has been sentenced to be detained for six years.

Jamie Harrowell from Ealing, London, was found guilty of manslaughter on the grounds of provocation at the Old Bailey.

He stabbed to death Benjamin Wright, also 17, near shops in Ealing in January this year.

The court heard the victim had put Harrowell through at least three years of torment, but in sentencing the judge described Harrowell's actions as dreadful and wicked.

Had you not been armed with such a knife Benjamin Wright would not have died

Judge Christopher Moss

Earlier Harrowell had said Benjamin had stolen his bike, attacked him and terrorised his family.

He lashed out at Benjamin with a knife after he had grabbed his jewellery.

The victim suffered a fatal stab wound to the stomach and was pronounced dead later that night.

Harrowell denied murder. He maintained he could not remember anything after hitting Benjamin with a stick.

'Armed yourself'

He gave himself up to police three days afterwards, saying he did not remember using the knife.

Judge Christopher Moss told Harrowell: "Whatever the difficulties which may have occurred between you and Benjamin, the fact of the matter is that you habitually armed yourself with a knife when you were out on the streets.

"Had you not been armed with such a knife, Benjamin Wright would not have died.

"In my judgement your actions in taking out that knife and using it to stab and kill were dreadful and wicked."
