'Name these paedophiles' say residents
Shrine for Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman
Holly and Jessica's deaths have frightened parents
People living on a Bournemouth estate say they are being "overrun" by paedophiles.

Residents on the Townsend estate want the 17 offenders they say live in the area to be named.

Organiser of the campaign, mother-of-two Jacqueline Biesty, said: "Unless these people get named then no child is safe."

Dorset Police say that naming paedophiles would increase the risk to children because it would drive offenders underground.

Vigilante danger

Superintendent Mike Glanville said: "We understand how the group might feel.

"But the danger is that innocent members of the public may become victims of violence through mistaken identity which has happened elsewhere in the country.

"We would not condone vigilante-style violence against anyone.

"This would greatly increase the risk of them reoffending and would make our job of monitoring their activity more difficult."

Townsend residents have gathered a petition of 500 signatures calling for the names of paedophiles to made public.

The residents' appeal comes only days after the bodies of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman were found in Cambridgeshire.

Police believe the 10 year olds were murdered.
