English curry flown to Delhi

Mr Ryan cannot imagine life without curry
A curry-mad English businessman has ordered the ultimate takeaway.

James Ryan enjoys the chicken tikka masala at his favourite Leicester curry house so much he takes it with him to New Delhi.

Admitting her husband's curry addiction is a bit of an obsession, Judith Ryan says: "He does love his curry."

The Ryan family, which includes James, Judith and their four children, have been eating at Friends Tandoori Restaurant on Leicester's Golden Mile for nine years.

"I went to New Delhi a few weeks ago and I decided to take the inevitable chicken tikka masala and chicken korma with me," Mr Ryan said.

"The meal lasted the flight very well and tasted great in New Delhi."

Manjit Pabla, manager of the restaurant, says it is a great compliment to have his curries sent to India.

"I think it shows the differences between the Indian and British curries, and proves there is a difference in the type of ingredients available in England," he said.

"They use buffalo milk in India, which makes the dishes a different colour and consistency.

"The tomatoes are tarter and the onions are stronger, so you get a completely different taste."

Mr Ryan said that his construction industry job takes him around the world, and he had eaten Leicester curries as far away as Mexico.
