Armed raiders take Post Office cash
Police on patrol
Cleveland Police hope to have better descriptions
Two Post Office workers in Stockton are recovering after being robbed at knifepoint.

The attack took place at premises in Rimswell Parade as two male workers locked up for the evening at 1930 BST.

The two robbers had their faces hidden by baseball caps, and also had hoods up.

They bundled the workers back into a storeroom before taking what police describe as "a substantial amount of money" from the safe.

Minor injuries

After taking the cash the robbers escaped through the back door of the Post Office, where a third man was waiting in a five-door red Ford Escort.

They drove off at speed along Rimdale Drive and Fordwell Road.

The men working in the post office managed to free themselves at 2000 BST and raise the alarm.

One of them suffered minor injuries but both were left shaken by the incident.

Office closed

A Post Office spokesman said: "Both members of staff were very badly shaken but were otherwise unhurt and we are offering them counselling."

The office is currently closed and will reopen on Saturday or Monday.

Detective Sergeant Paul Beddow is appealing for witnesses to contact Cleveland Police.

Officers hope to have better descriptions of the robbers after interviewing witnesses.
