Fire on board passenger ferry
P and O crew members tackled the fire on the ferry
Two members of a ferry crew have been airlifted to hospital after fire broke out on a sailing from Hull.
Almost 700 passengers were on board the Norsea when the fire was discovered, at 1950 BST on Wednesday. The fire, on the service from King George Dock in Hull to the Belgian port of Zeebrugge, started in the funnel intake area. Two male crew members suffered minor injuries and were taken by helicopter to hospital in Grimsby. 'No danger' The ferry continued its journey to Belgium. A spokesman for P and O North Sea Ferries said the fire was extinguished by members of the ship's crew. He said: "At no time was the ship in any danger and passengers were kept informed of the incident at all times." The two crew members treated in hospital were later discharged after treatment. The ferry is due to arrive in Zeebrugge on Thursday afternoon.
