Railway games captured on film
The children were "looking at death"
Amateur video footage of three children leaping onto live rail tracks has been released to highlight the dangers of playing on the rail lines.
Three children were captured on video jumping over and onto tracks at Adisham station in Kent. The cameraman who shot the footage, David Orchard, told the BBC: "They're looking at death." Last year, 10 children under the age of 16 died on tracks in Britain. Chief Superintendent David Hatcher from British Transport Police said: "They stepped onto the live rail, off the live rail, onto the next live rail. "If their feet had touched the live rail and the ground at the same time they would have been fried - it's as simple as that." Train company Connex said it was very difficult to supervise country stations, and called for better education to warn children of the dangers.
