'Bullied' worker suspended
A council worker from Swindon who set up a website criticising the way the authority is run has been suspended.

Deborah Rees had said she wanted to make others aware of her concerns about alleged bullying at work.

She claims her life was made a misery after she reported claims of poor standards in Swindon social services department.

Ms Rees has worked for the department for four years.

Action expected

She hoped her website would encourage others to talk about their experiences and would give people a chance to prevent similar situations.

Ms Rees said she had expected disciplinary action as a consequence.

Jerry Oliver, acting director of housing and social services at Swindon Council said, last week: "We always welcome comments from members of staff at any time, either through their team meetings or other channels.

"I am concerned she has sought to raise concerns that I'm not party to with the press.

"I will be taking that up with her as her employer."
