Queen thanks Tube staff
The Queen
The Queen chatted to well-wishers in west London
Ten thousand people have turned out to greet the Queen after she resumed her Golden Jubilee tour of the UK.

She visited London Underground staff with the Duke of Edinburgh to say a royal "thank you" to them for running the Tube through the night during the Golden Jubilee weekend.

"She said thank you very much for our efforts and asked how many people used the Tube during the weekend," said Glora Perera, a booking clerk at Uxbridge, west London.

The network ran through the night for only the third time in its history and transported more than a million people who poured into central London for Jubilee events.

Performing arts

The Jubilee spirit was revived in the centre of Uxbridge on Tuesday, which was packed with well-wishers waving Union Flags and cheering the royal couple.

The Queen released 500 balloons to unveil a statue in the town centre and watched a street theatre group called Hyart, featuring actors on stilts.

Sixteen-year-old Ashley Lamont performed on stilts with two Jubilee balloons in his jumper to portray a bucksome woman.

"I'm at least a D cup," said the performing arts student at Amersham and Wycombe College.

The Queen and Duke had lunch at Gunnersbury Museum, west London.

Later they went on a walkabout in Gunnersbury Park where more than 1,000 local people enjoyed a Golden Jubilee picnic.
