In Pictures: Summer solstice
Thousands of happy revellers greeted the dawn of the mid-summer sun at Stonehenge for the annual summer solstice.
More than 20,000 people - from new age travellers to druids - attended what police described as a peaceful celebration at the ancient stones.
Thousands flocked to see the dawn rising over Stonehenge, in spite of the rain
It was the third consecutive year revellers were allowed access to the sacred stones
Some took advantage and climbed the stones, but they were immediately ejected by police
A quiet word with revellers was mostly enough to ensure celebrations remained peaceful
Many people had stayed up all night to watch the sunrise
For some the event, which was attend by over 20,000 people, meant losing inhibitions
A druid carries a flag of St George - on the day England took on Brazil in the World Cup
Once the sun came up there was a chance to dance, sing, chant and beat drums
