Rail worker killed by train
Silverlink train
A Silverlink train bound for Euston was involved
A railway worker has been hit and killed by a passenger train.

British Transport Police said the man was 22 years old and came from Rhonda, south Wales.

The contract worker was on the trackside near Cheddington station in Buckinghamshire late on Thursday when he was hit at around 2230BST.

The train involved was a Silverlink service travelling southbound from Birmingham to Euston station in London.

It is believed the man was making his way to a site near the track to do some work.

British Transport Police and the Health and Safety Executive will be investigation in the accident.

Services on the line in both directions were delayed for an hour.

An inquest into the man's death will be held.
