Girl, 12, reveals rape ordeal
Easton Leisure Centre
The rape happened in an alley behind a leisure centre
A 12-year-old girl has reported a rape eight months after being attacked.

The girl was so traumatised by the assault she has only just told her parents.

Police say the attack happened in Easton, Bristol, on the evening of Sunday, 30 September, 2001.

The girl, from central Bristol, has told detectives she was walking home from a friend's house when she was raped in an alley behind Easton Leisure Centre.

She has helped police to construct a detailed CD-fit of her attacker, which has been released to help find the man.

After the assault, which took place between 2030 and 2045 BST, the girl wandered in the Stapleton Road area until about 2300 BST when she went home.

Her attacker is about 20, black, skinny, with a thin face, a scar under his left eye and a black goatee beard.

He wore Nike clothing and trainers and a gold ring on his left hand and rode a bicycle.

Detectives also want to hear from anyone who saw a distressed young girl in the Stapleton Road area that evening.

To help people remember 30 September, 2001 police have issued a reminder of some of the weekend's events.

That day, a German princess died in a crash on the M5.

In EastEnders, Zoe had found out that Kat was really her mother and in Coronation Street Geena and Dev moved in together.

In sport that weekend Bristol City lost one nil to Huddersfield and Bristol Rovers drew one all with Oxford.
