Double shooting in Coventry
Armed police
Police say the armed guards are a 'precaution'
Two men are in a serious condition in hospital after a shooting in Coventry.

The attack took place in the Wood End area of the city in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The victims were taken to the Coventry and Warwickshire hospital where armed officers are guarding them.

West Midlands Police have arrested one man in connection with the attack.

Motives unknown

The shooting took place in a flat on the Manor Farm Estate shortly before 0100 BST.

A police spokesman said: "At the moment, possible motives for the shooting are not known and we are not speculating on them.

"The injured men are being kept under armed guard but that is purely as a precaution until we learn more about the incident."

A man arrested near the scene of the attack remains in custody and is due to be interviewed later.
