Few stops on fatal journey
One carriage has been derailed onto the platform
The passenger train which crashed at Potters Bar was scheduled to have passed through as many as 30 stations without stopping before reaching its final destination at King's Lynn in Norfolk.
The 1245 West Anglia Great Northern service started from King's Cross in London. It had gone through but not stopped at Finsbury Park, Harringay, Hornsey, Alexandra Palace, New Southgate, Oakleigh Park, New Barnet, and Hadley Wood.
After passing through these north London stations, it had been scheduled to arrive at its first stop - Cambridge - at around 1330. That should have been after it passed through Brookmans Park, Welham Green, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Welwyn North, Knebworth, Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth, Baldock, Ashwell and Morden, Royston, Meldreth, Shepreth and Foxton. After the scheduled Cambridge stop, the train would have gone on through Waterbeach, before a stop at Ely. It then should have passed through Downham Market before reaching King's Lynn at around 1419.
