Jubilee celebrations
The Queen in Durham
Are you flying the flag in Golden Jubilee year?
What are you planning to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee?

Are you having a street party, decking out your home or taking to the hills to get away from it all?

  • I am 16 and a great monarchist and a few months ago my mother and I were hoping to hold a street party, but there was apathy amongst the elderly residents of the street.

So instead we have decided to buy flags etc and decorate the interior and exterior of our house. We are also having a BBQ in our garden with fancy dress.

    Robert H Stephenson, Baffins, Portsmouth

  • I'll be doing the only sensible thing on Jubilee weekend, and visiting Ireland - where they have had the sense to scrap the monarchy.

    Stephen Brooks, Blackburn, Lancashire

  • We are having a 'Royal Garden Party' to which we are inviting all the Brits we know in the area.

They all have to come as someone the Queen has honoured in the last 50 years.

Sarah and Stuart Wilson, New York, USA

  • We are holding a Jubilee teddy bear's picnic on 31 May, for local Rainbow and Brownie packs.

There will be prizes for the bears such as funniest bear, most loved bear and of course, most patriotic.

Diane Graham, assistant guider, 7th Birkenhead North Guides

  • We are organising a dual celebration: our Model Youth Awards launch and a street party.

We have approached local businesses for gifts or donations that can be used as prizes for children.

M Brett, Model Youth Awards, Manchester
