Girl arrested over heroin haul
BBC graphic
A second teenager has been charged with smuggling a Class A drug through Manchester Airport.

The 15-year-old, believed to be from Sweden, was arrested after stepping off a flight on Thursday.

Customs officers are believed to have recovered two kilograms of heroin, with a street value of 150,000, in her luggage.

The arrest comes just three days after a 13-year-old girl was charged with smuggling heroin with a street value of 1m.

British passport

A Customs and Excise spokesman said: "A juvenile was this morning [Friday] charged with the illegal importation of a class A drug after being stopped at Manchester Airport."

"The juvenile is due to appear before Manchester Youth Court."

It is not known whether the teenager was travelling alone when she was stopped.

On Tuesday, a 13-year-old girl was detained at the airport on suspicion of drug-smuggling after she stepped off a flight from Islamabad.

The youngster is currently in the care of social services in Bradford - where she is believed to have family links - after being charged with smuggling heroin.

On Thursday, magistrates at Manchester Youth Court adjourned the case against the girl, who has a British passport, until next Thursday.
