'I trusted his care'
Dr Paul Vinall's victim wishes to remain anonymous
A former patient of a gynaecologist convicted of indecent assault has said she tolerated his abuse because she wanted to give birth to healthy children and feared jeopardising her treatment.
Dr Paul Vinall, 55, was given two suspended sentences after being found guilty of indecently assaulting two of his patients. The patient who wished to remain anonymous told BBC News he had made her do "exactly what he wanted". But she added: "I trusted his care."
Paul Worsley QC, prosecuting, said the doctor had preyed on the "vulnerability" of his patients and even personally removed the underwear of some women during consultations in a "wholly unjustified manner". His victim said: "It is quite frightening when you have gone there to have care." But she concluded: "I just wanted healthy children and if that meant getting undressed every so often, well, that is the way it was."
