Mother leaves baby at hospital
Baby Nadia
The hospital wants baby Nadia's mother to contact them
Police have released video footage of a woman believed to be the mother of a baby abandoned at a Norfolk hospital two days after it was born.

The staff at James Paget Hospital in Gorleston want to reunite the young woman with her daughter.

The seven-pound baby, named Nadia by her mother, has been placed in foster care in another county.

Elaine Guest, director of patient care at the hospital, said the newborn baby, who was born on New Year's Eve, is doing well.

"We really want the mother to come forward," Mrs Guest said.

It is believed the woman provided false personal information and staff are concerned about her condition.

"We are appealing for her to contact us to say what she wants to happen, how we can help her and how we can give her support for her own safety and well being."

"It was totally unexpected as she was caring for the baby very well and feeding the baby herself."

Mrs Guest said it was only when hospital staff tried to check with the woman's family doctor that they realised she had lied.

Norfolk Police confirmed they are looking for the woman and are hoping anyone with information will contact them or the hospital.

The woman is described as being in her early 20s, 5ft 5in tall with dark collar-length hair.

She was wearing a pink T-shirt, a blue denim jacket, a dark skirt and dark knee-length boots.
