How different areas performed

There are wide variations in the performance of different areas of England in their schools' exam results.

The table below shows the 148 mainland local authorities ranked on the basis of their schools' achievements in the proportion of students achieving the Level 2 threshold - equivalent to at least five GCSEs at grades A*-C - including English and maths GCSEs (the EM column).

Other columns show the Level 2 average point score (APS) and contextual value added (CVA) measure and the proportion of half-day sessions lost due to persistent absence (ABS).
