Ronit Zilkha, a favourite clothes designer of Cherie Blair, has kicked off the last day of London Fashion Week.

Although the prime minister's wife was not at the show, British tennis player Greg Rusedski, back after being knocked out of the Olympics, and his wife Lucy, were among the audience.

"I didn't expect to be back from Sydney so soon but I'm making the most of it by coming down and helping Lucy spend some money," he said.

"Some of our friends are helping produce the show, so despite the jet-lag I really wanted to come along."

Also at the show, held in the grounds of the Natural History Museum, were former Conservative MP Neil Hamilton and his wife Christine.

Alongside Britain's first lady, Ronit Zilkha's designs have been sported by singer Geri Halliwell and film star Julia Roberts.

Zilkha set up her company in 1991 and now has five shops and a growing export business in Europe, South America and Asia.

London Fashion Week's other last day shows are by Godfrey, Shelley Fox, Sheila Maloney, Boudicca, Sophia Kokosalaki, Scott Henshall, Marjan Djodjov Pejoski and Hussein Chalayan.

The huge event grabbed headlines at the weekend when supermodel Jodie Kidd appeared on the catwalk wearing a £250,000 black evening gown with 2,000 diamonds.

The dazzling creation was the highlight of celebrity designer Maria Grachvogel's collection.

Extra buzz was created in its wake when fashion pundits expected Welsh designer Julien MacDonald to show off an even more expensive creation.

But the reported million pound dress complete with more than 1,000 diamonds failed to materialise at his Monday night show.

Instead a very valuable gold and diamond encrusted detachable cuff appeared attached to a black lace mini-dress.

Afterwards sources close to the designer said he had been misquoted about the glittering frock.
