Ryanair says it will refund 'reasonable' expenses

Ryanair says it will pay reasonable expenses incurred by its passengers stranded by the ash cloud.

Earlier, the budget airline had said reimbursement would be limited to the original air fare paid by each passenger.

Recriminations are growing over the costs of the six-day airspace shutdown, estimated to have cost the industry more than £1bn.

Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary said there was a big difference between refunding "reasonable" expenses, and paying compensation.
